Description
The caravan, motorhome, and camper vehicle area of Arenas Negras is located at an altitude of 1,240 metres on the northwestern slope of the island. Due to its proximity to the peaks, it experiences a climate characterised by highly variable temperatures, both between seasons and between day and night.
Arenas Negras derives its name from the characteristic black volcanic deposits left after one of the last eruptions in Tenerife: that of the Garachico or Trevejos volcano. This volcano is part of the volcanic chain that connects the Teno massif with Teide – Pico Viejo, and its eruptions left behind that distinctive dark mantle.
The area is characterised by the contrast between the majestic Canary pine trees and the dark ground resulting from volcanic emissions, known as picón.
There are marked routes where you can begin or end your excursions on foot, by bicycle, on horseback, or with motor vehicles.
Road access to the camping area involves travelling along a dirt forest track.
Adjacent to the camping area is the recreational area of the same name, whose services and facilities can be used during your stay.
