Update on access and public use in Tenerife’s natural areas
Due to the effects of storm Emilia, restrictive measures have been implemented.
The Island Council of Tenerife announces the new measures adopted regarding the use of tracks, trails, facilities and public infrastructures in the island’s natural areas.
1.- Network of tracks for motor vehicles
Recreational access to the network of tracks for motor vehicles is open.
2.- Facilities that remain closed
The following facilities remain closed:

Any other facility with an active incident shown on Tenerife ON
3.- Network of routes for bicycles and horses
The network of routes for cycling and horse riding remains open, except for those shown as closed on the Tenerife ON interactive map.

The network of routes for cycling and horse riding is open, except those shown as closed on the interactive map of Tenerife ON.
5.- Teide National Park trail network: partial opening and restrictions
Pedestrian access is restored with the following conditions:
Trails restricted to expert mountaineers
Access is limited to expert mountaineers who, in addition to mandatory winter equipment, must carry the technical gear indicated on Tenerife ON (and request authorization there):
- PNT 07 Montaña Blanca – Pico del Teide
- PNT 09 Teide – Pico Viejo
- PNT 23 Los Regatones Negros
- PNT 28 Chafarí
General recommendation in Teide National Park
Extreme caution is advised, and winter gear is recommended:
- Long trousers
- Fleece jacket or equivalent
- Hat and gloves
- Trekking boots or shoes with good grip
5.- Island-wide trail network: partial opening and restrictions
The island’s trail network is open with the following exclusions:
Access is prohibited on:
- PR TF 8 Afur – Taganana – Afur (Tamadiste–Taganana section)
- PR TF 35 Circular La Caldera – Mamio – La Caldera
- PR TF 35.1 Casa del Agua – Pinolere
- PR TF 35.3 Llano de Los Corrales – Pinolere
- Risco de Las Pencas Trail (SIC Barranco de Ruiz)
- Any trail showing incidents on Tenerife ON

7.- Authorized activity
Overnight stay in bivouac mode is permitted on the stratovolcano of Teide National Park.
