Macizo de Anaga

Difficulty: Medium

Description

This route starts in the area known as Las Escaleras and offers fantastic views of Roque de Taborno as you begin.

The first section follows the steps until you reach the layer of fayal-brezal (Morella-Erica heath) and then passes through a cluster of typical Canarian cave dwellings.

The path continues to the right, taking you directly to Las Carboneras. There you should take the narrow path that skirts the El Tomadero ravine and head towards Chinamada.

You will walk past the Casas de Tamés, with views towards Chinamada and El Batán de Abajo. When you reach your destination you will be able to admire another cluster of cave houses in perfect condition, since they are the homes of the Chinamada residents.

Tips

  • Always stay on the marked trail and do not enter private property, hunting grounds, water galleries, wells or caves.
  • Pay special attention when crossing or walking along trails used by bicycles, horses or motor vehicles and when walking in ravines with water courses.
  • Avoid direct encounters with potentially dangerous animals, such as livestock, beehives, and dogs.
  • Proceed with caution and watch for obstacles, loose rocks, uneven terrain or steep slopes to avoid accidents and falls.
  • Check out our guide to hiking in Tenerife and, if necessary, contact the emergency services by calling 112.
