Description
This recreational area, located at 1000 m above sea level on the northern slopes of Tenerife, boasts luxuriant vegetation thanks to the moisture supplied by the trade winds.
The dominant tree here is the Monterey pine, a species introduced during reforestation efforts in the mid-20th century to regenerate the forests on slopes that had been cleared of trees in the past.
However, for lack of adequate management, the trees grew too close together, hardly letting any light through, which prevented new trees, shrubs and grasses from growing.
To remedy this situation, forest management teams have been working in recent years to replace these introduced trees with monteverde woodland. In fact, a nearby sector is covered by fayal-brezal (Morella-Erica heath) and enriched with other species in the nearby ravines.
At lower elevations, you will also see a chestnut plantation that forms a border between the forests and the rural landscapes typical of these municipalities in the north of Tenerife.

- Follow the rules and instructions on the signs to avoid disturbance to people and animals.
- Keep the environment clean and leave no litter behind. Rubbish and cigarette butts must be disposed of in the designated containers.
- Travel in small groups to keep noise pollution and the impact on the environment to a minimum.
- Use the water in the toilets and taps responsibly. Water is a scarce and precious commodity on our island.
